This former palazzo became a hotel in 1890; with its enviable central location, guests can conveniently tour this historic little city on foot.
Hotel Nazionale overlooks the most beautiful panoramic point of Volterra, from which visitors can admire the slope of the hills toward the sea. Just steps from the Piazza dei Priori and from the Etruscan Porta All'Arco, it offers a simple but decidedly welcoming environment, ideal for a relaxing vacation for couples and families.
In addition to the convenience of the absolutely central location, we are just few meters away from the bus terminal and from the large, secure public garage. The adjacent Restaurant AL RISTORO offers the opportunity to savor good typical Tuscan cooking or pizza, if you prefer. Guests may also opt for half-board or full board à la carte service.
All this creates an ideal destination for friends or organized groups that will find us ready to host them in our 40 rooms. The convenient elevator inside completes the main services.
The hotel is open all year and our many special offers are listed below. Please visit our page dedicated to Last Minute offers.
Our illustrious guests have included the English writer D. H. Lawrence and Gabriele D'Annunzio, whose description of Volterra as "city of wind and boulders,” is inscribed on a stone plaque at the hotel entrance. In 1965 it also hosted the troupe of the Luchino Visconti’s cinema masterpiece “Vaghe stelle della Orsa, (Sandra of a Thousand Delights)” with unforgettable protagonists Claudia Cardinale and Jean Sorel. |
